Witch Hazel
Hemorrhoids are dilated veins in the anus. If they become pronounced they may become prolapsed (protruding out of the anus) and even require either ligation (cutting off blood supply with a band) or surgery (cauterizing them off), both of which are quite painful and unnecessary. Early treatment for hemorrhoids mitigates against these unnecessary interventions.

Hemorrhoids are quite pervasive in the Western world. Certain lifestyle choices increase your risk. For example, the obese, pregnant women, and the elderly boast a higher rate. Also those suffering from chronic constipation, who either strain to defecate or sit on the toilet for a prolonged amount of time increase their chances.
So before going down the road to surgical intervention, exhaust these natural remedies for hemorrhoids.
Nutrition
Constipation and hemorrhoids come hand-in-hand, for the incessant need to evacuate your stool puts pressure on the rectum and anus. To remedy both eat foods high in fiber. It will make your stool bulkier and thus easier to expel. Preferably opt for the Paleo-aligned vegetables, nuts, seed, and fruits since the body is well-equipped to handle them. Then go to the grains if needed.

Traditional Remedies:
Apply a cold compress on the hemorrhoids. In the evening a warm bath with Epsom salts (Magnesium Sulfate) for 30 minutes will work wonders. Using a stool when defecating (to elevate your legs and thus placing less pressure on your pelvic floor) will help thwart your chances of getting hemorrhoids. (Think of the Squatty Potty.)
Aromatherapy (Essential Oils):
High-fiber fruits
Applying frankincense, myrrh, or lavender to the anus may provide relief. Also, try some diluted tea tree oil.
Herbalism:
Your first option should be purchasing Witch Hazel. Witch Hazel is a very inexpensive, readily available natural astringent that will reduce the inflammation. Bayberry and Yellow Dock may be effective as well.
Homeopathy:
Hamamelis and Ratanhia have been shown to be effective in lowering pain when stool is passing the anus. (Consult a homeopath prior to usage.)

In general, the number one factor in reducing your chances of acquiring hemorrhoids is don’t sit on the toilet until you are absolutely sure a bowel movement is coming. Sitting on the toilet and straining to push your stool out is a sure-fire way to get these nasty “blisters.” So, before going down the road of OTC toxic creams and/or surgery try the aforementioned natural remedies for hemorrhoids.
