Now that you have eradicated your stinky foot odor using our essential oil recipe, let’s focus on those shoes. Foot apparel are a reservoir for bacteria and fungus. Shoes simply retain moisture too efficiently, especially in the summer. I’m sure there have been times when you have walked into a closet, maybe your teenagers’ or your own, and it stunk like 80-year-old shoe. Don’t turn to those toxic, overpriced foot sprays laced with phthalates! We can easily eradicate that malodorous scent by using the The Essential Oil Foot Deodorizer Recipe Ideal For Your Teenage Boys.
The key ingredient is the alcohol. Now before you start pouring whiskey into your shoes, remember that this is rubbing alcohol (though whiskey, vodka, etc would work just fine). The purpose of the alcohol is that it captures the scent of the essential oils better than water. Also it is a natural antiseptic (this is why we pour it on cuts…to the chagrin of your kids). Ouch!
Ingredients
- 4 once Amber spray bottle
- 1/2 cup of rubbing alcohol (70% or 90%)
- 20 drops of tea tree oil (See Notes below)
- 20 drops of lemon oil (See Notes below)
- 20 drops of lavender oil (See Notes below)
Instructions
Pour alcohol into bottle. (Use a funnel if you have one.)
Add oils.
Shake well.
Take at the soles of the shoes and spray liberally on both soles and shoes.
Air out.
Enjoy your clean pretty-smelling shoes.
Notes
You may replace lemon with geranium if you want a more feminine-scented shoe. Also to play with the various odors, you may substitute lemon oil with orange and lavender with peppermint.
